Kristen Allred received her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy from Utah State University where she studied piano with Gary Amano and jazz with Larry Smith. She taught piano at Utah State University and also through the USU Youth Conservatory, a highly acclaimed music preparatory program. She was the first to receive the "Teacher of the Year Award" from the Conservatory.
Over the years she has taught many piano students while developing a strong love for composing. She enjoys writing choral music as well as piano music from beginning up to advanced levels. She is published by Jackman Music Corporation and the Neil A. Kjos Music Company with over 50 pieces in print. Recently, she had four of her piano pieces selected for the National Federation of Music Clubs repertoire list.
Kristen has served in many different music positions in her church including organist, pianist, accompanist, music chairman, and children's choir director. She has worked for various churches as a music director and in the elementary schools as a music teacher. She is often asked to write music for special occasions. She is a member of ASCAP and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and has served as the Composition/Theory Chair for the state board of the North Carolina Music Teachers Association (NCMTA).
Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband and three children in the beautiful state of North Carolina with the lush, green scenery, beautiful beaches, and country charm. Her husband is a chemist who keeps the family entertained with his experiments, explosions, and critter hunts and her children all enjoy playing musical instruments with her oldest son currently pursuing a degree in Audio Engineering.
